Sunspel Old Compton Street

Everypeoples Guide Sunspel Old Compton Street

Founded in 1860, Sunspel is an iconic British clothing label with a long and rich history of quality craftsmanship. In the early years they made high-quality undergarments for the English market and John Hill, grandson of Sunspel founder Thomas A. Hill, was responsible for introducing the boxer short to Britain in 1947. After this Sunspel went on to manufacture standard issue uniforms for the RAF and were also instrumental in the development of the t-shirt in the mid-1950s.

In modern times Sunspel have evolved into the quintessential British label holding true to their traditional values of comfort, detail and quality. They continue to produce luxury materials and timeless garments and have been applauded by many internationally-renowned designers for their simple take on traditional menswear.

There are currently two Sunspel stores in London’s West End, the first you see here in Soho and a second location on Chiltern Street in the affluent Marylebone area.
