Slam City Skates

Everypeoples Guide Slam City Skates

Slam City Skates first opened their doors in London’s Covent Garden district in 1988, automatically gaining the credibility that comes with being Europe’s very first skate store. In the 26 years since they have become as embedded in the skate scene in London as the rolling slopes of South Bank and have pioneered UK skateboarding as a store, a team, a brand and most of all an independent movement.

Their current team roster includes the likes of Lucien Clarke and Karim Bakhtaoui, who have achieved an almost cult-like status due to their ties with Palace Skateboards and the newly founded Supreme London movements.

It is important to note the store’s relevance in the sneaker/streetwear realm also. They have been more than active in their collaborative work with the likes of Vans, Silas and Nike’s SB department and are currently co-owned by Gareth Skewis, founder of Pointer and partner in Palace Skateboards.

Slam City Skates is a must-visit for all skaters on a trip to London and anyone interested in the history of skateboarding in the UK. With the opening of their second location in East London this year and the skate team going from strength to strength its seems Gareth and the Slam City team have a lot more planned for us in the future.
