Honest Burgers Meard Street

Everypeoples Guide Monocle Cafe

Founded in Brixton, Honest Burgers now has two locations in London. The original spot in Brixton and a more recently opened branch on Meard Streett Soho.

Honest Burgers in Soho is small, cramped and always busy, and we think all those things are a positive sign of a good burger esperience. As you’re seated you’ll be given the ‘flow chart’ style menu which makes more sense than I could ever convey.

The beer selections are on trend, locally sourced craft beers of the Hackney based Redchurch Brewery sit comfortably alongside a couple of Estrella Damm brews including the glutten free ‘Daura’ lager. The glutten free element is one that the health conscious Honest Burgers are keen to push by also offerings glutten free buns with your burgers.

The burgers themselves mean business. The signature ‘Honest’ Burger is a 35 day dry-cured British chuck steak (provided by Ginger Pig) topped with pickled cucumbers, mature cheddar, smoked bacon and red onion relish. If that alone doesn’t sound tempting enough all the burgers come with a portion of the house chips which are lovingly cut skin-on chips doused with rosemary salt.

The overall vibe of the Soho branch isn’t quite the same as that of the original Brixton location. It’s a darker, more rushed experience. Some might deem this as a bad sign but we only think of it as reflective of the area it’s in. All-in-all it’s a great burger that’s not to be missed if visiting the capital. And if you’re really lucky you might be able to get a seat outside in the sunshine!
