Dover Street Market
Launched in 2004, Dover Street Market is the brainchild of Comme Des Garcons founder Rei Kawakubo and husband Adrian Joffe. Spread across 6 floors of cold cement and steel in London’s Mayfair, DSM offers an array of forward-thinking fashion alternatives amidst an ‘ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos’.
This manifests as a unique shopping experience in which the minimalist décor is cluttered with everything that doesn’t belong, initially averting the eyes away from the clothes themselves and creating the type of ‘search and discover’ atmosphere usually found in old vintage shops and not up-market, department stores.
Expect to find all fourteen Comme Des Garcons lines here as well as a mix of styles from world-renowned labels and up-coming designers alike. A strong Japanese aesthetic runs through the basement level with pieces from Undercover and Visvim, as well as London’s best selection of heritage New Balance runners and the occasional Tier Zero Nike release.
